RNLI Fun Day at Mudeford Quay is a charity event with all proceeds going to the Mudeford RNLI Lifeboat Station.

To assist  the RNLI in their fundraising activities, each year the Blackhouse donate a  weeks stay at the Black House to be auctioned on the day.

Auctions are always a great success and have contributed significantly towards the total money raised for the Mudeford RNLI each year.

Psychological thriller set in and around Christchurch Harbour

Sandman

'SANDMAN' by Ian Kingsley is set in and around Christchurch Harbour and the public buildings mentioned in the novel such as the Hiker café and the Beach House café do exist.

Ian Kingsley says there were several good reasons for using the setting; "Firstly, I like to write 'atmospheric' fiction because this has more presence: hopefully I can make it seem more real because, as a writer, I can better visualise it. Secondly, there is a very special atmosphere on Mudeford Sandbank and I wanted readers to appreciate and enjoy that. (As Stevie imagines it in the novel, it is rather like an island — although not exactly 'deserted'.) Thirdly, this novel is about a stalker, and the environment of a stalker is important; I needed to bring his surroundings to life, so what better way than to use a real-life setting? Lastly, I wanted to show how tranquility might only be a heart-beat away from tension or fear — and despite its many visitors at busy times, this area always has a tranquil air."
